Burnt Trees In The Snow is a vinyl only split LP featuring US paisley-poppers Donovan’s Brain and Melbourne raga-rockers Fraudband.

For Kasumeun Records this release marks our second international split LP as well as our second international co-release – this LP being released in conjunction with US label Career Records (Golden Breed, Deniz Tek, Angie Pepper, Penny Ikinger et al).

It is something of a David Vs Goliath affair in that Donovan’s Brain employ an eight piece band over five new songs to deliver their technicolor jangle, whereas Fraudband duo it up once again, recording live in the studio one afternoon.

Donovan’s Brain’s Abbey Road textures and West Coast guitar sounds are delivered by some hefty hitters - Tom Stevens (Long Ryders), Deniz Tek (Radio Birdman), Scott Sutherland (Model Rockets) and Ric Parnell (Atomic Rooster, Spinal Tap – yes that’s right, the drummer on the first two Spinal Tap albums!). They are joined by Bobby Sutliff (Windbreakers), Kris Hughes (My Girl The River) and Main Brain Ron Sanchez. Original Brain Kels Koch makes a cameo appearance.

Fraudband are Fraudband. Here, as always(?), landing somewhere around planet Sonic Youth aboard the good ship Link Wray. Check out their video-single for this release by clicking the album image top left on this page. Vinyl review from I-94 Bar here

This vinyl only release includes a download of all vinyl tracks plus six bonus tracks, three from each band. The Donovan’s Brain bonus tracks are outtakes from the Convolutions Of The Brain triple CD box set. Fraudband’s bonus material is live takes of tracks not on the vinyl, culled from a national tour of Japan.
